Kaprun Ski Pass 2026/27: Prices for the Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel
The Kaprun ski pass for 2026/27 is the Ski ALPIN CARD, also valid in Zell am See and Saalbach: an adult pays €82 a day and €440 for six days in peak season (19 December to 12 March), €74 and €396 in the early and late season. Children born 2021 or later ski free with an adult.
I'm Ursula Auer. Working in quality management, I am involved in all sorts of things at the hotel: sometimes at reception, sometimes in the office, and really wherever there is something to be done.
Guests on a ski holiday at Hotel Der Schütthof can buy the Ski ALPIN CARD without queuing at the main reception in Hotel Latini next door, or order it by email before arrival and collect it at check-in, ready to use from 3 pm that day; the KeyCard carries a €2 deposit. Reception sells every lift pass except group tickets and season passes, the Maiskogel and Lechnerberg ticket included.
How much is a ski pass in Kaprun in 2026/27?

Does the Kaprun ski pass cover Zell am See?
Yes. Every Ski ALPIN CARD day and multi-day pass is valid in three regions: on the Kitzsteinhorn, the Maiskogel and the Lechnerberg in Kaprun, on the Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See, and in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Altogether the card covers 408 km of pistes and up to 121 cable cars and lifts. The Maiskogel and Lechnerberg ticket is the exception: it is valid in those two areas only.
From Hotel Der Schütthof it is about 5 minutes on foot to the valley station of the areitXpress gondola up the Schmittenhöhe, Zell am See's own ski area, where the same Ski ALPIN CARD is valid. For what a day there costs, see our guide to the Schmittenhöhe ski pass. Kaprun is a bus ride away: line 660 runs from Zell am See through Schüttdorf to the Maiskogel and the Kitzsteinhorn.
Which lift pass do you need for the Kitzsteinhorn and the Maiskogel?
For the Kitzsteinhorn glacier you need the Ski ALPIN CARD: from 27 November 2026 it is the Kitzsteinhorn's ski pass, so a day on the glacier costs the same as a day on the Schmittenhöhe, €82 for an adult in peak season and €74 in the early and late season.
Skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn is planned until 17 May 2027, weather and snow permitting, with lifts up to 3,029 m. For the snow month by month, see Is Zell am See snow sure?. For days on the Kitzsteinhorn after 4 April 2027, check the prices with the Gletscherbahnen Kaprun before you buy. For a half day on the glacier, buy the half-day pass from 11.30 am: the Schmittenhöhe's morning ticket, valid until 12.30 pm, does not work on the Kitzsteinhorn, according to the Schmittenhöhe lift company.
The 3K K-ONNECTION, the lift from Kaprun via the Maiskogel to the glacier, runs again from December 2026, the Kitzsteinhorn's lift company says; from the Kitzsteinhorn valley station, Gletscherjet 1 and 2 go up.
Maiskogel and Lechnerberg ticket, 5 December 2026 to 4 April 2027
Kaprun's family ski area and beginner area, on the Maiskogel and the Lechnerberg, has its own ticket; its prices apply from 5 December 2026 to 4 April 2027. It is the only regular adult day pass in Kaprun that costs less than the Ski ALPIN CARD: €58, valid on the Maiskogel and the Lechnerberg only. That works out at €24 less than an adult Ski ALPIN CARD day in peak season and €16 less in the early and late season.
| Ticket | Adult | Youth | Child |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day from 8 am | €58 | €43.50 | €29 |
| Half day from 11.30 am | €51 | €38 | €25.50 |
| Afternoon from 1.30 pm | €38.50 | €28.50 | €19 |
For lessons and beginner tickets, see our guide to Zell am See for beginners.
Is there a child or senior lift pass in Kaprun?
For children, yes; for seniors, not on day and multi-day passes. Children born 2021 or later ski free with an adult on the miniAlpini Card, which needs a photo, and they ride the Maiskogel and Lechnerberg lifts free with an adult too. Older children and teenagers pay the child and youth prices.
With the Junior XPLORE CARD, a day pass costs €15 every Saturday for children and teenagers born 2008 to 2020, from 28 November 2026 to 3 April 2027, and on the Kitzsteinhorn until 1 May 2027; it is sold at every ticket office of the ALPIN CARD network.
From 20 March to 4 April 2027, the Easter Bonus gives all the family's children born 2011 or later a free pass when one parent buys a pass for at least 4 days at the same time. It is available only at the lift companies' ticket offices, with proof of age; youths born 2008 to 2010 are not included, and the children's passes run as long as the parent's. The bonus applies across the ALPIN CARD network: on the Kitzsteinhorn, on the Schmittenhöhe and in the Skicircus. All the discounts by age and for groups are in our guide to the Zell am See ski pass discount.
Seniors born 1946 or earlier pay the adult price on day and multi-day passes; only a Ski ALPIN CARD season pass bought by 8 December 2026 costs them less, €760 instead of €875, and from 9 December 2026 they pay the adult €1,049. The same goes for under-25s born 2001 to 2007.
Where do you buy a Kaprun ski pass?
Buy the Ski ALPIN CARD in the Kitzsteinhorn lift company's online shop, where you pay the same price as at the ticket office, at its ticket offices at the Kitzsteinhorn valley station and at the MK Maiskogelbahn valley station in Kaprun or, as a guest of Hotel Der Schütthof, at the main reception in Hotel Latini next door.
You need an account to buy online, as there is no guest checkout; the shop accepts VISA, Mastercard, debit cards and Apple Pay. Child and youth tickets are sold online; other reductions, for groups or people with disabilities for example, only at the ticket offices with proof. A ticket bought online is valid only for the date or period you chose. It comes as a smartphone ticket in the Zell am See-Kaprun app, a print-at-home QR code, a top-up for a KeyCard you already have, or a pick-up code for the machines or ticket offices at the valley stations. The KeyCard deposit comes back at any lift ticket office if the card is undamaged.
The Ski ALPIN CARD season pass, valid from 10 October 2026 to 2 May 2027, costs an adult €875 if bought by 8 December 2026 and €1,049 from 9 December 2026; every season pass needs a photo.
How do you get from Zell am See to the Kitzsteinhorn?
By bus 660, which runs from Zell am See station through Kaprun, via the MK Maiskogelbahn, to the Kitzsteinhorn valley station; single and multi-day bus tickets are sold on board. Schüttdorf is also a good base for skiing on the Kitzsteinhorn: from Hotel Der Schütthof it is 5 minutes on foot to the Schüttdorf ÖBB-Postbus Garage stop, and from there bus 660 takes 26 minutes to the Kaprun Kitzsteinhorn Bergbahn stop at the valley station, on the timetable valid until 12 December 2026. On that timetable the Kaprun Maiskogelbahn stop, for the Maiskogel and the 3K K-ONNECTION, is 13 minutes away, and the ride back from the Kitzsteinhorn takes 27 minutes.
According to the Gletscherbahnen Kaprun, bus 660 runs every 30 minutes from 27 November to 18 December 2026, every 15 minutes from 19 December 2026 to 4 April 2027 (every 30 minutes around midday) and every 30 minutes again from 5 April to 2 May 2027. A valid Ski ALPIN CARD includes the ski buses while the lifts are running, and bus 660 between Zell am See and Kaprun too if you are in ski gear. The Guest Mobility Ticket, included at Hotel Der Schütthof and valid on public transport across the Salzburg region, also covers the ski buses and bus 660 between Zell am See and Kaprun, according to Zell am See-Kaprun Tourismus.
Within Kaprun the ski buses are free for everyone: line K links Burg Kaprun, the MK Maiskogelbahn, the village centre and the Kitzsteinhorn valley station every 30 minutes until 2 May 2027, and the village bus (line D) runs to the Maiskogel and the Lechnerberg every 20 minutes from 25 December 2026 to 4 April 2027.
For departure times, check ÖBB Scotty or the timetables at the stops, or ask at the hotel's reception, which has them; Salzburg Verkehr publishes the line 660 timetable on its download page (in German). If you drive, parking at the Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel valley stations is free.
If you plan to ski the glacier every day, you will take that bus every day: where to stay in Zell am See compares Schüttdorf, the town centre and Kaprun as bases.

Working in quality management, I am involved in all sorts of things at the hotel: sometimes at reception, sometimes in the office, and really wherever there is something to be done. For me, Zell am See is not just where I work; it is a place I have grown very fond of, with its mountains, its lake and some truly special moments. My personal highlight: a few runs on the Schmittenhöhe, with the glorious view over Zell am See and the surrounding mountains.
