Hotel Der Schütthof guests buy the Schmittenhöhe ski pass, the Ski ALPIN CARD, without queuing at the main reception in Hotel Latini next door. The price for adults is €82 a day in peak season 2026/27 (19 December to 12 March) and €74 in the early and late season, and a day ticket also covers the Kitzsteinhorn and the Skicircus. For skiers, only individual valley lifts and the evening Nightslope have cheaper Schmittenhöhe-only tickets.

I'm Ursula Auer. My personal highlight: a few runs on the Schmittenhöhe, with the glorious view over Zell am See and the surrounding mountains.

Hotel Der Schütthof is in Zell am See's Schüttdorf district, about 5 minutes on foot from the valley station of the areitXpress gondola, Schüttdorf's way up the Schmittenhöhe.

How much is a day ski pass on the Schmittenhöhe in 2026/27?

An adult day pass costs €82 in peak season and €74 in the early and late season; youths born 2008 to 2010 pay €61.50 or €55.50, and children born 2011 to 2020 €41 or €37. Peak season runs from 19 December 2026 to 12 March 2027. The early season, from 27 November to 18 December 2026, and the late season, from 13 March to 4 April 2027, have the same lower prices; the Schmittenhöhe lift company's price list calls them winter start and bonus season. The Schmittenhöhe's own season is planned from 4 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, snow permitting. For the snow month by month, see Is Zell am See snow sure?.

Day and half-day Ski ALPIN CARD prices for winter 2026/27, in euros including 10% VAT:

Morning until 12.30 pm, early and late season €63 €47 €31.50

Youth and child prices need proof of age. Day tickets and passes are valid from 3 pm the day before, except flexible passes, discounted tickets and special offers.

For a ski week, the 6-day Ski ALPIN CARD costs an adult €440 in peak season and €396 in the early and late season. Multi-day passes run on consecutive days only; if you want a rest day, a flexible pass lets you pick your ski days, 5 in 7 days or 10 in 14 days. Every other multi-day price, the season pass and which pass suits your week are in our guide to Zell am See ski pass prices for 2026/27.

Do I need the Ski ALPIN CARD for the Schmittenhöhe?

Yes, to ski the whole mountain: the Schmittenhöhe's day, half-day (from 11.30 am), multi-day and flexible passes are all Ski ALPIN CARDs, also valid in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn and on the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. The morning ticket (until 12.30 pm) is not valid on the Kitzsteinhorn. There is no cheaper Schmittenhöhe-only lift pass for winter 2026/27; for skiers, the valley-lift tickets and the Nightslope evening ticket are the ones valid on the Schmittenhöhe alone. Winter walkers have Schmittenhöhe-only tickets too. The lift company's online shop also sells the SuperSkiCard, valid on the Schmittenhöhe and in other ski regions, for skiers who want to ski further afield.

The Schmittenhöhe itself has 77 km of pistes (30 km blue, 28 km red and 19 km black) and 27 lifts, six of them feeder lifts from the valley: the areitXpress from Schüttdorf, the cityXpress, trassXpress, Schmittenhöhebahn and Sonnenalmbahn from the town, and the zellamseeXpress from Viehhofen. The Ski ALPIN CARD covers 408 km of pistes and up to 121 cable cars and lifts. For the slopes themselves, see our guide to skiing in Zell am See.

A valid Ski ALPIN CARD includes the ski buses while the lifts are running, and bus 660 between Zell am See and Kaprun too if you are in ski gear. If you want to start from the cityXpress in the town centre, the ski bus is the best way there from Hotel Der Schütthof; it is easier than the train.

Which tickets are valid only on the Schmittenhöhe?

Valley-lift tickets

If you are practising your first turns on Schmidolin's Magic Carpet at the areitXpress valley station, you do not need a day pass: the lift company's valley-lift ticket for Schmidolin's Magic Carpet or the Bambilift costs €13 for the day from 9 am, the same for adults and children. Schmidolin's Magic Carpet is a nursery slope, extra wide and gentle, with a covered conveyor belt to carry you back up.

On the Schmittenhöhe lift company's price list, the valley-lift tickets cost, in euros including 10% VAT:

Valley-lift ticket Adults Children (born 2011 to 2020)
Ebenbergbahn or Fallegglift, from 9 am €26 €13
Ebenbergbahn or Fallegglift, until 12.30 pm or from 12.30 pm €22 €11
Ebenbergbahn or Fallegglift, single ride €5 €2.50
Ebenbergbahn or Fallegglift, 10-ride card €21 €11
Schmidolin's Magic Carpet or Bambilift, from 9 am €13 €13
Schmidolin's Magic Carpet or Bambilift, until 12.30 pm or from 12.30 pm €11 €11
Schmidolin's Magic Carpet or Bambilift, single ride €2.50 €2.50
Schmidolin's Magic Carpet or Bambilift, 10-ride card €11 €11

Night skiing on the Nightslope

The Nightslope is the floodlit piste no. 6 at the Ebenbergbahn (lift no. 26), in the heart of Zell am See. It is expected to open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 January to 25 February 2027 until 8.30 pm, except 9 February, depending on snow conditions, so check the lift company's Nightslope page before you go. Night skiing is included in your lift pass; an evening-only ticket for winter 2026/27 costs €15 for adults and €8 for youths and children born 2008 to 2020, with proof of age. Our guide to the Zell am See piste map shows where it is.

Where do you buy a Schmittenhöhe ski pass?

Guests of Hotel Der Schütthof can order the Ski ALPIN CARD by email before they arrive and collect it at check-in, at the main reception in Hotel Latini next door, ready to use from 3 pm that day; on site they order it through the hotel's digital guest information system or on the printed order form. Reception sells every lift pass except group tickets and season passes. Anyone can buy it online in the Schmittenhöhe's own shop or at the ticket offices at the valley stations. A pass on a KeyCard carries a €2 deposit, which you get back for an undamaged card at any ski pass sales point.

On selected dates there are also packages with a 2-day ski pass for ski holidays at Hotel Der Schütthof.

The Schmittenhöhe's online shop lists the same prices as the ticket offices; booking online saves you the wait there, the lift company says. You can activate the pass as a smartphone ticket in the Zell am See-Kaprun app, which works over Bluetooth, or collect it at the ticket machines or ticket offices at the valley stations with the pick-up code the shop emails you. Booking early saves money only on the season pass, if you buy it by 8 December 2026.

In winter 2026/27 the areitXpress is planned to run from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, and the ticket offices at the valley stations, the areitXpress among them, open 15 minutes before their lift; check the lift company's opening hours page on the day. Groups of 20 or more get group prices, with the passes bought together by one person in charge. Reductions for groups and for people with disabilities are only available at the ticket offices, with proof. All the discounts by age and for groups are in our guide to the Zell am See ski pass discount.

Frequently asked questions

Do children and seniors pay less for a Schmittenhöhe lift pass?

Children and youths do; seniors only on a season pass bought by 8 December 2026. Child prices apply to children born 2011 to 2020 and youth prices to those born 2008 to 2010, with proof of age. Children born in 2021 or later ski free with an adult and get a free lift pass; a photo is required. There is no senior rate on day and multi-day passes: seniors pay the adult price. Only the season pass is cheaper for seniors (born 1946 or earlier), at €760 when bought by 8 December 2026; from 9 December 2026 it costs €1,049, the adult price.

With the Junior XPLORE CARD, a day pass costs €15 every Saturday for children and teenagers born 2008 to 2020, from 28 November 2026 to 3 April 2027, and on the Kitzsteinhorn until 1 May 2027; it is sold at every ticket office of the ALPIN CARD network. With the Easter Special, from 20 March to 4 April 2027, all children born in 2011 or later get their lift pass free when one parent buys a pass for at least 4 days at the same time; the free passes also work on the Kitzsteinhorn and in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. The Easter Special is sold only at the ticket offices on site, with proof of age.

Can you cancel a Schmittenhöhe lift pass bought online?

Yes, with the optional cancellation guarantee in the Schmittenhöhe's online shop: for €3, €5 or €8 per pass, depending on how long the pass is valid, you get the full price back if you cancel up to the day before your pass starts. Only the whole order can be cancelled, not single tickets.

Working in quality management, I am involved in all sorts of things at the hotel: sometimes at reception, sometimes in the office, and really wherever there is something to be done. For me, Zell am See is not just where I work; it is a place I have grown very fond of, with its mountains, its lake and some truly special moments. My personal highlight: a few runs on the Schmittenhöhe, with the glorious view over Zell am See and the surrounding mountains.
